We use them regularly, but we don’t always pay all the attention they deserve to decide which one to buy. Knowing how to choose for the best pan is not easy, but following a few simple tricks will get yourself the best possible tools to prepare your dishes.

The important thing when choosing the best saute pan on the market is to look at several key aspects: the material in which it is made, weight, ability to distribute heat, non-stick, ability to clean it, or what type of fires it is suitable for. To choose your best saute pan, we give you the keys to find it.

The material: Steel saute pan, aluminum

The material in which the pan is made is essential. It will be this material that later determines the capacity that the pan will have to distribute the heat and durability. It is important to note that all materials require guidelines for use, care, and, assume, they do not last forever.

The steel pan is a recommended option. To prevent food from sticking, it requires a pre-heating of the oil. They do not rust quickly and have a long service life. Furthermore, they are ideal for all types of fires, from gas to induction. To say the least, nickel migration can be harmful for certain people, so it is important to choose enameled steels that increase their durability while preventing them from releasing other types of harmful substances.

Aluminum is another possibility on the market, especially due to its low weight, although its main drawback is that it requires a non-stick coating, usually Teflon. Teflon contains PFOA, a glue used to adhere the Teflon layer to the pan. PFOA has been found to be a carcinogenic material, which is why the EU has set the 2020 deadline to stop producing and trading saute pans and pots that carry this type of substance.

The key to durability

The opportunity to enjoy a good saute pan as long as possible is basic. Durability is one of the most valued aspects when buying a saute pan. Again, the material plays a fundamental role in this aspect, since each of them offers a different durability.

While Teflon or aluminum pans have low durability, steel pans offer greater resistance over time.

When choosing a saute pan, those made of steel can be useful due to their great resistance. They are not very harmful and help to distribute heat well. Steel requires a very specific use to prolong its durability over time. With proper care and use, pre-heating the pan before starting to cook can be the ideal type of material if you are looking for maximum durability.

What kind of fire is it for?

If you have migrated from a gas cooker or ceramic hob to an induction cooker, you will perfectly master it. Induction requires the use of a specific type of material that allows contact between the surface to be heated and the fire in order to cook.

Again, steel is an ideal material. Its properties allow that, like iron, to be able to make a magnet effect so that the surface is suitable for the induction cooker.

Induction pans have an advantage over others, and that is that they are suitable for all types of fire. Thus, while a saute pan not suitable for induction can only be used on a gas stove or ceramic hob, induction pans expand the possibilities even more.

Ideally, you should find a balance as balanced as possible between the material it is made of, durability, non-stickiness and the type of fire it is suitable for. Keep in mind that a good saute pan should be able to serve you as long as possible while maintaining the maximum security guarantees.
