Spread the love

We can think that cleaning the fryer is complicated and cumbersome, but it doesn’t have to be that way. By following these steps, it won’t take you long to leave this device looking like new.

We can go through the fryer, almost any food. And although we know that it is not the healthiest thing for our diet, from time to time, it is a whim that we can give ourselves.

What is also not healthy is having a dirty fryer because it affects the quality of the food, in addition to negatively impacting the useful life of our small appliance.  So it is very important to go to clean the fryer regularly.

When to clean the fryer?

If we use the fryer frequently, the ideal is to change the oil every two or three uses. In any case, other signs indicate that it is time to change it, such as seeing that the oil has lost its golden color and that it is dark, in addition to the fact that there are food remains at the bottom of the fryer. The time has come to clean the fryer.  It is very important that when we do, the fryer is switched off and the oil is cold.

Clean the fryer bowl

The first thing we have to do is remove the used oil from inside the fryer. To make it easier, we recommend using a funnel and pouring the oil into a glass jar. So you can operate the fryer with both hands and less oil will be spilt.

It is also a good idea to cover the surface where we are going to perform this step with newspaper or absorbent paper because an oil leak can end up being more work when having to clean it.

Once we have emptied the oil bucket, if there are crumbs or food remains in the bottom, we can use kitchen paper to remove them in one go.

Next, if it’s a fixed bowl fryer and non-removable coils, with the soft side of a sponge and a little dish soap, we rub the walls of the bowl. We rinse the sponge with water and remove any remaining soap.

Once rinsed, we fill it with water reaching at least the minimum and connect the fryer to make the water boil inside. What we should never do is clean this type of fryer under the tap, as we could damage the motor.

Then we drain the water and let the fryer dry. As for the oil that we have removed, we must take it to recycle, do not forget it.

Some models have a removable, dishwasher safe bowl. In that case, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to remove the resistances, remove the bucket, empty the oil as in the previous case, remove the remains that may be in the bottom and you can already wash the bucket under the sink or in the dishwasher as if it were a pot.

Clean the fryer basket

So that the food remains that can be stuck to the fryer basket fall, in addition to cleaning the basket, it is best to introduce it for about 10 minutes in a mixture of warm water and dish soap. Then, with the scouring pad and in the sink, we will wash it normally.

It is important to rinse it very well and allow it to dry before putting it back into the fryer and, of course, before using it again.

In some cases, the baskets can be placed in the dishwasher. If this is the case for your model, rinse the basket quickly with water to remove food debris before placing it in this appliance.

It is very important that you be careful with the products you use for this cleaning and that you rinse the pieces very well. Otherwise, its flavor could remain in pieces and in the next use it will spoil our fried foods.

Clean the exterior of the fryer

Dirt and fat can also accumulate on the outside of the fryer, so it is important to clean it well on the outside, paying attention to the handles, if any.

Use a very well-drained damp cloth to prevent water from entering where it should not and dry with another cloth or absorbent paper. Do not use abrasive products to avoid damaging the finish of your small appliance.

Remember that until everything is completely dry, you should not connect the fryer and use it. We also recommend that you wait until the next use to fill the bucket with clean oil.

Scrub the lid

If your fryer lid is removable, you should also remove and scrub it with soap and water. Let it dry very well before putting it back on.

If you can’t remove it, you don’t have to worry: with the fryer unplugged, wipe with a damp cloth to remove the dirt.

Cleaning the fryer is not complicated, but it is as important as keeping the pans and pots clean. With proper care, you will enjoy your fried dishes much more thanks to a fryer that works perfectly.
