Best way to reheat chicken wings

How many times have you said that reheating chicken wings is something you have to do by force, but the resulting chicken wings are painful? To take away that feeling of bad eating, instead of reheating chicken wings, what you can do is “reheat” the chicken wings.

What is to reheat chicken wings?

Only recipes that work well in the microwave gives the key to getting cooked meals or leftovers to heat, and that they seem freshly made:

If done correctly, the microwave can reheat cooked chicken wings without overcooking. The result is a wonderful meal, juicy as if you had just cooked it; with the flavor and aroma make it appetizing. In addition, the loss of nutrients that occurs each time chicken wings are heated is reduced.

What happens to chicken wings when subjected to the heat of cooking

Every day we use heat as a method of cooking chicken wings and it produces various effects on them:

It serves to sanitize chicken wings and reduce the risk of infection. For this, it is necessary to heat the chicken wings long enough until the center reaches 70º temperature.

In turn, the cooking heat evaporates part of the chicken wings’s constituent water and with it part of the dissolved nutrients are also lost, as is the case with vitamins. Also, due to the effect of heat, some substances responsible for aroma and flavor are volatilized or transformed.

Every time you reheat the cooked chicken wings, water will evaporate; it will dry out, lose nutrients, flavor and aroma. Therefore, to reduce the loss of quality of the chicken wings that you want to heat, you should try to keep evaporation to a minimum.

Keep in mind that excess temperature also alters nutritional quality. You may have noticed that when you wanted to reheat a chicken fillet (or other meat) in the pan, it has become very dry and stuck to the bottom and you have surely had to add more oil.

The same difficulty has to heat a plate of pasta or rice: it is difficult to make it juicy. However, heating liquid chicken wings is easy because of the amount of water they have.

The oven, both electric and gas, also dehydrates a lot: it is not recommended to use it as a chicken wing warmer.

Reheat again

The microwave allows the chicken wings to be heated without the water it contains boiling again. Therefore, the chicken wings is made to look freshly made.

To properly reheat a ration, we will do the following:

  • Power of 300-350 watts, 3-4 minutes and cover perfectly with a glass, silicone or plate lid that fits the chicken wings’ container.
  • That is the time for a serving, and it will be very good in temperature, just to eat.
  • However, since the time also depends on the composition of the chicken wings, you will see if it needs a little more, but always at this power.
  • If you are going to heat more than one portion at a time, you will need more time.

As you can see, you will no longer need a bain-marie to reheat any chicken wings, nor the oven, nor a saucepan, only the microwave. You will see that the result is great.

Some examples: “reheat” the leftover rice, and you will see that now nobody cares about eating cooked rice another day, it is perfect. And the chicken breasts, juicy!

If you don’t have a microwave, heat it in a bain-marie, with the chicken wings container tightly covered, so that the minimum amount of water evaporates. Be very careful that the bathroom always has water.

Enjoy the chicken wings!
